PORTAL, Cochise County, Arizona - Myrtle Kraft Library: The library was founded in 1978 by Myrtle Kraft. The building is an old school house. In 1995, when Mrs. Kraft retired, the library was named in her honor. - Fire Department: Portal has a very impressive, very well-equipped fire and rescue department. The staff is all volunteer and the land, building, and equipment are all the result of donations by Portal residents. The department receives no funding from taxes. In photo 2, the stark white areas on the coats are reflector tape illuminated by the camera's flash. - Tree shadows: With the long tree shadows and ocotillo fence, this rock home resembles a fairy tale cottage. - Long distance view: A long distance view into Cave Creek Canyon.
