DRAGOON, Cochise County, Arizona - Old building: This wonderful old service station is now someone's home. - Amerind Foundation: The Amerind Foundation is a nonprofit research institution founded by William S. Fulton. It is devoted to the study and preservation of prehistoric and historic Native American cultures. The Amerind Foundation is located on Dragoon Road. Take exit 318 from Interstate 10. - Toy teepee: Many tribes were nomadic, making and breaking camp often. Toy tepees were a way for children to practice in play what they would later do as adults. - Ceremonial masks: Ceremonial masks at left and center. An Iroquois cradle board at right. - Numbered museum displays: Museum collections number in the tens of thousands of objects. This is just a tiny sampling. When I took these photos, non-flash photography was still permitted in the museum. However, photography of any kind is now prohibited inside the museum display rooms.
