COURTLAND, Cochise County, Arizona - Old Jail: Courtland is a ghost town. In its heyday, from about 1909 to 1920, Courtland was a booming mining town. The jail is the most intact structure remaining. - Old Jail 3: The front of the jail was in shadow when I took these photographs. See the barred cell windows on the side? - Old Jail 4: The cell windows from the inside. - Ruins: During its boom, Courtland had a movie theater, ice cream parlor, and even a car dealership. Courtland provided its residents with telephones, newspapers, and five miles of underground water pipes.
