CASCABEL, Cochise County, Arizona - Cascabel Air Park: Cascabel Air Park used to be an airport at the top of a hill. When I took this photo, it was a nice place to picnic and hike. - City Folks Ranch: The City Folks Ranch is just south of Cascabel against the backdrop of some dramatic cliffs. - Cascabel Law: A saguaro posse apprehends a rogue cactus. "Stop right there and put your hands in the air!" - Cascabel River School: Since 1997, this building has been a school for 2 to 4 children a year, ranging from first to fourth grade. The school sits atop a mesa overlooking Hot Springs Wash, the San Pedro River, and the beautiful Rincon Mountains. Most of the students ride horses to school. Their teacher, Pearl Mast, walks up from Hot Springs to teach - a 45-minute trek. (Thanks to Kathryn of Cascabel for the information about the school.) - Sun Station: Special thanks to Linda and C.C. the Counter Cat at Sun Station for giving me a hot cup of coffee on a very chilly morning! - Pay telephone: Even though Cascabel is a remote community, you can still find a public telephone there. The location of the public phone is something for visitors to ponder. (No, there is no store or gas station hiding outside the frame. What you see is what you get.)
